Trading Standards

Trading Standards enforce legislation designed to protect the consumer from trading malpractices. This can assist the majority of reputable companies by ensuring fair trading methods for everyone.

However, it also means that if you are unsure of your legal requirements in this area you may be committing offences which could end in prosecution.

Prosecutions involving well established and well known businesses are always ‘good stories’ for the local press, this may result in the company good name and reputation being damaged. Even if you are proved innocent the damage to your company reputation may have already been done.
